5 leadership traits we live by to level up your real estate business

It's been a crazy first day back in the office today as we unwind from LeadUp last week and kick off our spring tour TOMORROW in Atlanta (yep, I'm doing that one so come say hi and get our latest PLACS listing methods!).

Today, I want to continue with the qualities of a Live Unreal Leader list as I received some amazing feedback from you last week about how impactful that session was. As a reminder these are my beliefs in what I believe it takes to be a leader in our organizations and as I mentioned last week, I believe we still have some work to do in the 19 areas I covered during LeadUp.

Lets continue with five more so that you can do some self reflecting on the list this week...

  1. LUL’s are always the most professional in the room and this stems from dress to behavior. You should always be the most conservative, professionally dressed and on your best behavior, regardless of if it’s fun or not. You are on a different level and therefore you don’t get the benefit of behaving like everyone else - even if it’s what you’d prefer (ie’ staying out late, gossiping, being on your phone when a speaker is presenting - even when you know their content, showing up late, etc).

  1. LUL’s genuinely love their people and show it through acts of kindness, time spent or through regular encouraging words. Taking a page from coach Ron Bellamy at the University of Michigan.. “We’re going to coach you hard but love you harder”. (Bring up wings game). Time is one of the greatest forms of love you can show your people - this gets harder as your org gets bigger - how do you accomplish it still?

  1. LUL’s will never arrive as we are in a constant state of self improvement. No one on our leadership team will ever have it fully figured out and we will constantly challenge ourselves to know more, understand more and do more to get better. The day we stop growing is the day our competitors will pass us.

  1. LUL’s will find responsibility in ALL things even when they are not involved. While we may not be directly responsible for the actions of our people, we do have influence over them to help them make the right decisions and when they don’t we have to take a small amount of accountability, at a minimum. Our job is to teach them how to think and if they aren’t making smart decisions, that’s on us.

  1. LUL’s live structured lives and understand the value of a strong morning routine. Just like we teach our salespeople, we understand the power of owning the morning and winning the day. For us as leaders, our mornings should be spent in the activities that will grow the business, whether that’s recruiting, lead gen, sales, building your bench, etc and our afternoons should consist of maintaining (connecting with our people, support, coaching, development, etc) the business we have.

Share last weeks first five and the above five with someone in your life who needs to see them and identify which ones you could improve on and in the meantime, have an unreal rest of your Monday!
